In Memory of Walter “Spec” Elijah Sabiston, Jr.
Walter "Spec" Elijah Sabiston, Jr., 89, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 6, 2017 at his home in Covington, Louisiana. He leaves his beloved wife of 68 years, Norma Lyttle Sabiston; his children, Dottie Grace Belletto, Walter E. Sabiston, III, Norma Jane Sabiston, Anita Pollack, and Donna Linares; his grandchildren, Rachel Ann Solley, Veronica Marie Belletto, Nicholas Walter Belletto, Grace Marie Belletto, and Myles Sabiston Belletto; and many close family and friends. Spec was born in Jacksonville, North Carolina, the son of Walter, Sr. and Grace Bloodgood Sabiston.
He raised his family in New Orleans, and upon retirement, he and Norma moved to Covington. Spec valued God and family above all else. He was a model husband and father, an accomplished entrepreneur, a champion athlete, and a faithful Christian. His life was blessed by that rare form of true love, and in his wife, Norma, he found not only a partner but a best friend.
The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Mr. Walter "Spec" Elijah Sabiston, Jr. to the LSU Health Foundation.
